Needs Funding : Surgery and Rehab Program

About the Program

In developing countries, corrective surgeries and rehabilitation – to assist in recovery or to treat disabilities – are not well funded, especially in rural areas. While most of a country’s healthcare budget is dedicated to life-saving treatments, disorders such as clubfoot and spina bifida may go untreated, and other more severe disabilities ignored.

The Surgery and Rehab program helps develop services in rural areas to provide essential surgery, post-operative care, and rehabilitation for children to help them live functionally as adults. ABW helps establish rehabilitation centres in rural regions to offer physiotherapy and assistive devices, by funding construction, professional development, and even staffing.
